The Wednesday Robotics Group gets together after school every Wednesday. This program is run by Ms. Loretta. Ms. Sherron, and a former student from high school, Maria come in to help. During these workshops, we explore innovations and gizmos, and gadgets with the WeDo kits. This year the students made robots that walked and rolled. We raced them and tried to figure out what would make them go faster. Then we realized some of the robots went fast but couldn't pull or push anything, so we designed a robot that would push a box.
The students could make any of the models in the idea section of the WEDO program. Many of them made helicopters, then they started to play with narratives. The story is about the robotics team.. who are firemen and a woman, who are called in, and have to go to save the wildlife and the people in the north of Canada. Dhevan and Julia made a video and we had fun filming ourselves acting out the story.
Challenge: How many Wedo does it take to move the box
Challenge make the WeDo invention walker robot and race them to see which design is faster.
