Building community together, through empathy and empowerment.
Building more meaningful, impactful, lasting relationships with our graduate schools and students will create ideas, advocacy, and bonds that will last beyond the walls and time spent at William & Mary. Our administration hopes to bridge the disconnect between the undergraduate and graduate student bodies. We want graduate students to know your experiences here are valued as much as the undergraduate experience, and that Student Assembly is here to advocate and support you.
Overview & Background
Our administration will work to better integrate graduate students into the William & Mary campus culture. Through facilitating collaboration between graduate and undergraduate student organizations and encouraging attendance in university traditions (Yule Log, Convocation, Charter Day, etc.) we hope to create an inclusive and well-rounded experience for all students.
Overview & Background
Graduate Assistants face unique challenges and experiences serving as both an (usually full-time) employee of the university and graduate student. Though Virginia is a Right to Work state, we believe GA's have the right to be heard and advocate for their needs. You have the right to fair wages, work hours, and benefits. Our administration will help make sure you are heard.
Mission & Action Items
We would work with the Worker's Union and Graduate Council to solicit feedback for Graduate Assistants. We will amplify support their voices.

Overview & Background
Given that graduate schools tend to be further away from main-campus, we place the utmost importance for continued evaluation of safety at the graduate campuses and housing complex. You deserve to have the resources and support to make you feel and be safe. We would work with graduate schools and the Graduate Council to send periodic surveys regarding campus safety and share any feedback with William & Mary Police Department to advocate for immediate change.
Overview & Implementation
We believe in the value of peer mentorship and the sense of community it can bring. Given that many undergraduate students are prospective students in similar post-graduate programs, we propose the creation of a graduate-undergraduate mentorship program to help facilitate connections and a stronger community. We would implement this through a campus-wide application followed by a matching process to pair individuals based on prospective graduate program and experiences.
