To support you in with the implementation and administration, you have access to a Google Drive where proposal templates and the name list of your CCA members are found.
You can access the Drive by tapping on the "Your CCA sub-folder" tab. The two sub-folders that you need are:
(1) your CCA sub-folder (e.g. Floorball) and
(2) General CCA VIA folder.
There are generally two types of VIA in EJC: School initiated CCA VIA and Student-Initiated External VIA.
School Initiated CCA VIA is part of the CCA programme and involvement will be reflected in CCA record only when the project is completed.
Student Initiated External VIA is when you choose to do your projects with any Volunteering Welfare Organizations (VWOs) and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) externally. Students are encouraged to shows regular involvement like volunteering with an organisation or projects where the student is actively involved through planning. However, projects which is done in religious context, exchange for monetary benefits or service rendered with personal benefits will not be recognized.
Values in Action (VIA) are learning experiences that support students’ development as socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills. At the Junior College level, Eunoians should consider the impact and differences they are making with their project. While we would accept Flag Day as one of the projects that the CCA is doing with the organization, it cannot be the only project in their CCA VIA; students should consider the wider needs of the organization and plan for further projects to serve them.
Each CCA will be given $50 per outreach per year. There is no budget allocated for External VIA
Yes, you will need to involve everyone in the CCA for VIA. Therefore, you can plan for both outreach at different dates to allow everyone to sign up. Students who missed the second outreach should make up for it by signing up for the additional volunteering options that may be offered at beneficiary organization. Please refer to Annex for the complete timeline.
You need to submit a CCA VIA proposal (titled Service learning application form, is found in the shared Google Drive, under the General CCA VIA sub-folder) to your CCA teacher I/C for feedback and endorsement. This should be done before you implement the project.
After completing the project, there are information that need to be submitted to the General Office for entry into the CCA certificate (part of the School Graduation Certificate for every JC student). The template Excel Sheet document for you to enter the information is found in your specific CCA sub-folder. We will have a VIA ambassador meeting some time in Term 1 of year 2 to brief you on this matter.
CCA VIA will only appear once in the student’s CCA records. Either 2022 or 2022, depending on when it was completed. So even if the involvement started in 2022 and ended in 2022 and involved multiple events with the organization, it will only be reflected once. We will strongly encourage you to complete by end of the Term 2 in 2023.
We have deliberately reached out to organisations to come down and share more with you during DDD#2. Do take the initiative to work out what is the best arrangement between the partner organisation and you anytime between JC 1 Term 2 to JC 2 Term 1. However, in the event that your CCA can’t find a potential partner, do approach your CCA teacher, or our CCA VIA teachers for other possible partnering organisations.
