1985 State Championship Football Team

Inducted February 22, 2008

Coming off of a sectional championship season in 1984, the Royals started the 1985 season with a 20-0 loss. After that loss, the team went on to an unforgettable season. The Royals went on a school record 13 game winning streak. They captured the school’s first regional championship with a win over Clarksville 27-0, defeated South Putnam 21-13 to win the semi-state, and then capped off their dream season with another win. On Thanksgiving weekend in the Hoosier Dome the Royals grabbed a 20-7 win over Jimtown to capture Eastern Hancock’s first, and at this time, only, state championship to date in any sport, in the IHSAA’s first state football tournament with all schools included in the tournament.
