Spring term 2
To start off our Spring term 2 we had some visitors from MoneySense Natwest to talk to us about how we use money. We had a workshop on what we can use money for (spending, saving and donating) and we learnt about 'wants' and 'needs'. We found this really interesting and were able to come up with lots of great questions for our visitors!
In PE this half term we are working on our 'ball skills' as well as 'invasion games'. We have already started to consider how we can keep the ball in our possession if we were playing an invasion game such as football, netball or basketball.
This week we have been celebrating World Book Day in lots of different ways! We have had a visit from a published author, we have been completing book reviews and showing off our writing skills whilst retelling the story of Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell.
Our trip to Colchester Zoo!
This half term our topic is all about animals! In science our topic is 'animals and living things' so we have already been exploring a variety of habitats from all different continents. We used our learning to help us today as we explored Colchester Zoo taking part in a bingo hunt and taking photos with a range of animals.
Thanks again to the wonderful staff and parent helpers that attended and made the trip incredibly memorable for the children. It is very much appreciated.

Today we celebrated a French artist called Claude Monet. We studied his famous painting called 'The Japanese Footbridge'. We learnt all of the words for the 5 senses in French and used our imaginations to inspire some writing around the picture.
Computing
This half term we have looked at effective searching and the different ways in which we can search safely. We have used Kiddle to research facts about our favourite animals and completed a quiz on effective searches.
During Book Week, we also used purple mash to create some snail shells based on our story 'Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell'.
