Analysis

Learning intention: 

• You will be able to identify and describe the elements of music within any piece of music and describe how it affects the emotive & expressive outcomes.

Introduction:

Throughout the term/semester you will be introduced to a number of different music elements, which are all required to create your favourite songs. You will build on your current vocabulary and expand you understanding of what you hear within a song!

Every week you will be required to focus on one element of music and work in groups to analyse various works to create a practical understanding of the concepts covered in class.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

It is important to note that everyone in the class will have a different stylistic preference or 'taste' in music. The pieces of music selected for this unit are selected for a specific purpose and is used as a tool for understand how we can break a song down to identify and describe elements of music. 

I can guarantee that not everyone will necessarily enjoy or like all of (if any) of the songs in the pages that follow, but you must focus on listening to these songs as a way to better understand the music you do enjoy listening to and performing.

It is important that we are all respectful of each others taste in music and sharing of ideas/opinions when analysing music. When commenting on a piece of music or engaging in discussion, be respectful of each other and the music being studied.
