YEAR 12 COMPOSITION NIGHT
Term 2 has been a very busy but extremely rewarding term for the Dance department. The first performance of the term was the Year 12 Composition Night, where our HSC Dance students presented their Core Compositions to showcase their choreographic skills.
These compositions were performed by other students and allowed the choreographers to assess their work to now allow for further selection and refinement leading into their Trial and Practical HSC Dance Exams.
We wish Year 12 all the very best with their examinations next term and are very proud of all they have achieved!
CLASSWORK SHOWCASE
On Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 June, Dance Classwork Showcase was held in St George's Hall and showcased the amazing work the students have been completing within their elective classes. It is always so wonderful to provide the opportunity for our wider school community to view what our Dance students have been working on within the classroom.
On Wednesday 3 July there was also a Showcase performed by our Year 9 Up In Lights students who devised an abbreviated version of 'Legally Blonde' and performed wonderfully.
Also included in this evening were some of our Year 9 NTV students' Music Videos. It was a great night of performance which showcased the students' talent, collaboration and commitment to their studies. Congratulations to all involved.
LIGHTHOUSE DANCE PROJECT
On Thursday 13 and Friday 14 June, NHSPA hosted the annual Lighthouse Dance Project.
This is a wonderful festival that allows for our Senior students to collaborate with students from other Performing Arts high schools while participating in various workshops led by lecturer's from Tertiary Institutions from across the country.
It is an opportunity for our students to discover what Tertiary pathways there are in Dance to assist them with their transition after school. Each day was concluded with a performance, where all participating schools and some Tertiary Institutions presented items for each other.

DANCE SHOWCASE
On Saturday 22 June, our Co-curricular Dance and Classical Ballet Companies, as well as our Industry-led Styles Ensembles performed to a sold out audience at the Seymour Centre.
The performance was an amazing evening that showcased the extraordinary talent of our students and choreographic skills of our Dance faculty and Guest choreographers. It is always so rewarding to be able to provide the students with this wonderful performance opportunity and to see how the program continues to grow and develop year after year.
I thank everyone who came to watch the performances and for your continued support of your child and the Dance faculty. I would like to personally thank the wonderful teachers of the Dance faculty, your commitment, passion and dedication to Dance Education is truly inspiring. The preparation time, sourcing of costumes, choreographic skills and care for your students is greatly appreciated. These opportunities would not be possible if it wasn't for you.
Thank you Dance staff!
We look forward to another busy and successful Semester 2
Hoping you all have a safe and restful break!
