Projectors

Projectors and smartboards

  • every teaching space except seminar rooms should have a projector, some with Smartboards
  • i105 has a large tv, hdmi (new style) connection only
  • theatre has projector, laptop, hdmi connections, dvd
  • most other projectors use a standard VGA connection (except hitachi - hdmi)
  • 4 kinds of projectors orange sanyos, epsons, dell interactive and hitachis
  • remotes are stored according to faculty convention
  • some projectors have laptop or desktop attached as per faculty preference
  • some faculties have dvd players (VHS player ..maybe??)

HDMI or VGA

VGA is the older style connector. All except very recent or thin windows laptops have these.

HDMI is newer, digital and used for sound as well as video .. newer laptops have these as well. Macs need adapters to be used with the projectors.

Some hints

  • When plugging in or out, be careful and dont force the connection. Its especially easy to damage the pins in a vga cable
  • press windows and P (for projector) to toggle between PC Screen only, Duplicate, Extend, Second screen only.
  • when using vga you must plugin the pc using audio cables supplied to use inbuilt or smartboard speakers.
  • HDMI should carry both signals
  • EPSON projectors may ask for a password. On the remote hold down num(Ber) key while you type 0000
