THE NATURE OF THE COURSE

FASHION DESIGN is an exciting Textiles Technology course designed to give opportunities to:

• explore the world of Fashion Design with a textiles base.

• broaden knowledge of the properties and performance of textiles.

• study textiles within the context of society.

THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE

Project work forms the basis of every unit of work, thereby developing practical skills in designing, producing and evaluating.

The focus areas around which the units of work will be centered are:

• Apparel

• Furnishing

• Costume

• Textile Arts

• Non-apparel

This course offers an exciting and dynamic approach to the fashion world and aims to give students confidence in handling a range of textile applications and to expose them to a wide variety of construction and emerging industry techniques through project based learning.
