What does my child need for school?
Children need a bag lunchbox, drink bottle and a school hat everyday. A library bag will be needed to borrow books from the library each week.
Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child's name so they can be easily returned, if lost.
Please also include a change of clothes (socks, underwear, shorts/skorts or dress) just in case of an accident.
Early in Term 1 you will receive a list of classroom supplies we request for each learner. These items need to be sent to school with your child to give to their teacher. Teachers may request a ‘top-up’ throughout the year as certain items are consumed.
How are birthdays celebrated at school?
Due to the high number of allergies within our school, we have a ‘no birthday cake’ policy. If your child would like to share something with the class, a suggestion is small, sealed lolly bags that learners can take home to enjoy.
What is Refuel and Refresh?
At Lapstone Public School we encourage our learners to lead healthy, active lives and are committed to promoting learner health and well-being through nutritious food choices. While some fruits and vegetables contain natural sugars (fructose), they also provide essential fibre, vitamins and minerals that contribute to overall health. The glycemic response of fruits varies and those with high fibre content (such as apples, pears and berries) release energy more gradually compared to high GI fruits like watermelon. For a balanced approach, the Australian Dietary Guidelines recommend a mix of food types for sustained energy. More information can be found at the NHMRC Australian Dietary Guidelines.
To ensure your child has plenty of energy to make it through the day they should come to school with plenty of fruit, water and nutritious snacks. Refuel and Refresh occurs at approximately 10am each morning, giving learners the opportunity to have a quick nutritious snack to boost their energy levels.
Does Lapstone Public School have a canteen?
The school does not have an operating canteen. Every Wednesday an external food service called ‘My School Lunchbox’ is available to learners. ‘My School Lunchbox’ is a service that is offered for learners to pre-order food that will be delivered for Wednesday Break 1 eating time. Orders must be placed and paid for via the company website.
The school on occasion has special food days which parents will be informed of.
