If your child is absent, you are required to notify the school as to why your child was absent. This can be done by sending in a note, email through the school email or through the school app. Please sign and date the note and return the note on your child’s arrival back at school from an illness. If there is going to be an extended period that your child is not going to attend school due to an illness (3 days or more) please contact the school to inform why and provide a medical certificate from your doctor. Regular checks on student attendance are made by the Department of Education’s Home School Liaison Officers.
If your child is unwell, it is best not to send your child to school to ensure illnesses are not spread amongst the school community. If your child has an injury which may impede their mobility, please contact the school so we can plan for the safety of your child whilst at school.
It is encouraged that all appointments: doctor, dentist etc. are made after school to ensure the least amount of time children have off from school.
If your child arrives after 8.55 am, he or she needs to come to the office to get a late arrivals slip. If you are picking your child up before 2.55pm, you must come to the office and pick up a leave slip before your child is asked to come to the office. Children should only be picked up early in case of emergency. We encourage parents not to pick up their students during break times. Regular lateness interferes with their learning and that of the class and creates an unreasonable workload for our office staff that is required to record lateness and provide notes for teachers.
When an absence is for reasons other than illness, the school should be notified in writing and permission sought from the principal. These reasons include family holidays or overseas travel. Once again taking holidays during school time is discouraged as this has a negative impact on vital learning time.
