Progression pathways

All students will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics in S1-2. In S3, we allow students to specialise in 1 or more Science which often leads into your senior phase course choice.

When you move into the senior phase, your teacher will give you a recommendation level that will set you on a suggested progression pathway through senior phase Science courses as shown in the diagram below.

Each course is assigned an SCQF level which describes the course complexity and difficulty, but allows you to quickly compare the level of different courses. The 'traditional' National 4 → National 5 → Higher → Advanced Higher is not necessarily the best progression for students and teachers will advise of the most appropriate route.
