The key aspects of a Response text are...

• The writing expresses a personal response or evaluation of an existing work. 

• The writing is split into micro groups to focus the description, analysis and evaluation of different aspects the work (novel: story, characters, setting; games: graphics, gameplay, puzzles; restaurant: taste, price, service etc.).

• Different perspectives are used to describe the work in detail (number sentences, texture sentences, colour sentences etc.).

• Examples/evidence is given to justify opinions/evaluations.

• Language is evaluative, utilising subject-specific technical vocabulary, descriptive adjectives, adverbs and evaluative phrases ("a heart-breaking scene", "exciting ending", "clever use of music" etc.).
