We often remind you that we unfortunately do not have parent parking in the Law Primary School car parks. Thank you to so many of you who have found ways to ‘park and stride’ and find sustainable ways to travel to and from nursery and school.
We always look to minimise risk and to keep everyone safe. For this reason, we aim to reduce the number of vehicles using Old Haddington Road, the driveway access to nursery and the school. Some parents and carers who have a Blue Badge do need to park in the accessible parking bays and we will always support people to do that. We are however finding that some parents and carers continue to park in the bays or in the staff car park. This causes difficulty for those users who have access needs, and for members of the staff team who are unable to park and be ready to support our children.
Please be considerate and find alternative places to park. This includes the morning drop-off from 08:15-09:00 and the 14:55-15:25 collection times for school and nursery. This also applies to children who are driven to school and dropped off in the staff car park. Please note that it is our intention to work more closely with the local police to address this issue.
Thank you for your continued support.
WAY FINDING & NEW SIGNAGE
Project Play and supporters and the staff team have received many positive comments about the new signage and ‘way finding’ artwork around the playground gates. Thanks go to Project Play for their help in developing this element of our school estate. The orientation process around the school will now be much clearer, while offering a learning opportunity to the pupils.
Arrangements for main entry access to the school has now changed. We are now using the ‘south-east’ gate (yellow circle) as opposed to the ‘north-west’ gate (plum oval). The rationale around this decision has been discussed at Parent Council meetings, and centres on the desire to improve safeguarding by minimising visitor footfall within the playground. The new main entrance provides a clearer ‘line of sight’ for staff to observe visitors through the school day, and reduce the unsighted walk through the playground from the north-west gate.
This means that the gate beside the dining room (plum oval) will be locked during school hours, but will be open for nursery drop-off and collection from 15:05.
