School and families play an important role in ensuring the safety and well-being of young people. We truly value a meaningful partnership with our parents/carers, and so thought it would be helpful to clarify what is meant by ‘safeguarding’ and ‘child protection’.
Safeguarding means:
Protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
Preventing harm to children’s health or development
Ensuring that children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes
Child Protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focusses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm: physical, emotional or at risk of neglect.
If you have any concerns for a child’s welfare, please speak in confidence to a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Alternatively, you can contact Duty Social Work Services direct on: 01875 824309 or 0800 7316969 (out of office hours).
