Speech & Language Therapy (NHS)
What the Service Does: Speech and Language Therapists work with parents/carers, education staff and others to assess if a child has speech, language and/or communication difficulties or eating and drinking difficulties that are affecting their wellbeing. The Service also offers training and advice to parents/carers, early years practitioners, pupil support assistants and teachers who have concerns about the speech, language and/or communication needs of any child.
Age Range: From birth to school leaving age
How to Access: Parents/carers as well as professionals, can complete and return a Request for Assistance form should there be a concern regarding a child’s communication skills; or their eating, drinking and swallowing needs. (See below for guidance and referral form).
