The workshop will present the statistical method of propensity score (PS) matching, a method that recently have gained popularity among social scientists. The method is used for analyzing observational data to estimate the effect of a treatment, policy, or other intervention by accounting for the covariates that predict receiving the treatment. Because the method is usually applies in cases where conventionally a regression analysis would be fitted, the workshop will compare both methods and show the advantages of PS matching over regression models. The workshop will demonstrate, through examples, the basics of PS matching, including software codes, in Stata or R, for implementing the method.
