Introduction to data analysis using Python

Python is an open-source, general-purpose programming language, being used in many domains. Nowadays it also plays a major role in the data science and machine learning world, with a wide user base both in the industry and academia. It offers a straightforward design, almost English-like syntax, and an abundance of online learning resources making it a good fit for non-programmers and beginners.

Python is a handy tool at most stages of empirical research – from running experiments and simulations to analyzing, plotting, and reporting data. This workshop will give you an introduction to analyzing your research data using Python.

The workshop will include two sessions, during which we will cover:

• Python basics - Data structures, functions, control flow

• Data manipulation - Importing, preprocessing, and exploring data

• Data visualization

• Data analysis - running common statistical tests

Each session will include hands-on work. The workshop assumes a basic knowledge of statistics and some experience in data analysis. No prior programming experience is required. The workshop will be given in Hebrew.

Python היא שפת תכנות לשימוש כללי, אשר נמצאת בשימוש בתחומים רבים, אך כיום ממלאת תפקיד מרכזי בעולם מדע הנתונים ולמידת מכונה, עם בסיס משתמשים רחב הן בתעשייה והן באקדמיה. Python היא שפה נגישה מאוד לחסרי נסיון בתכנות היות והיא כוללת מבנה פשוט וקוד אשר ניתן לקרוא כמעט כמו אנגלית. מעבר לכך, קיימים שפע משאבי למידה מקוונים אשר ניתן באמצעותם ללמוד את השפה.

שליטה ב-Python מהווה כלי שימושי ברוב שלבי המחקר האמפירי - החל מהרצת ניסויים והדמיות וכלה בניתוח, תכנון ודיווח על נתונים. הסדנה תיתן למשתתפים מבוא לניתוח נתונים באמצעות Python ותכלול שני מפגשים, במהלכם נעבור על

• מבני נתונים, פונקציות, בקרת זרימה

• ייבוא, עיבוד מקדים ואקספלורציה של דאטה

• ויזואליזציה של דאטה

• ניתוח נתונים - הרצת מבחנים סטטיסטיים נפוצים

כל מפגש יכלול עבודה מעשית. נדרש ידע בסיסי בסטטיסטיקה וניסיון בניתוח נתונים. אין צורך בניסיון קודם בתכנות. הסדנה תנתן בעברית.
