Performing Arts Concentration
Galt Meets Broadway:
This program allows students to explore and grow their passion for Theatrical Arts, Theatrical Movement/Dance, and Music.
Available to students in both Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 (Levels 1 through 5)
In Cycle 1, there are 7 Performing Arts blocks over a 9-day cycle. In Cycle 2, students have 6 blocks over the 9-day cycle.
The aim of this program is to offer an enriched and multilevel Performing Arts curriculum by combining theatre, dance, and music in an effort to provide a safe and open-minded environment to students who show an interest and/or talent in these disciplines. Through new opportunities, our students will be inspired to achieve a common goal of excellence through the development of a cooperative creative process which will instill a sense of belonging. In return, such an environment will foster a sense of self-worth and confidence through performance achievements.
The program is built around a rotational system (2 years for Cycle 1 - 3 years for Cycle 2) that will allow for limited-to-no repetition of material and a progressive growth in the areas of Dramatic Arts, Movement/Dance, and Music. Students in the program will also enjoy various excursions, theatre and dance performances, as well as workshops and much more.
Student needs to show an interest in all three disciplines - Theatre, Dance and Music.
The yearly cost of the program is approximately $200.
Workshops are typically included in the concentration fee, but field trips come at an additional cost.
