Conjunctivitis (Pinkeye)

Conjunctivitis (aka pinkeye) is another common infection in early childhood. Conjunctivitis refers to redness and irritation of the eye. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, allergies, or other irritating factors.

Viral and bacterial conjunctivitis are contagious. Bacterial conjunctivitis can be treated with antibiotics, but viral conjunctivitis will not improve with antibiotics. It is important to wash your hands often and avoiding touching your eyes and face if you or someone in your home has pinkeye.

Please call your doctor if you think your child has pink eye.
