All classes will receive their learning through a variety of methods. This will include explicit teaching, either through a Google Meet with teachers (synchronous) or through videos, slide-shows or a screen castify (asynchronous) which shows students what the learning intention is and how to show their learning. Videos and other learning supports will be used to complement the learning developed by teachers.
Each morning, every class will check in and meet with their teacher in a Google Meet. At other times, teachers will be online for students to chat to, drop in to a Google Meet, or to send questions to. These additional times will provide support and scaffolding for students as they work through the learning each week. Times for the morning check in and drop in meets will be shared with classes through their year group page.
Preschool will use the Dojo Platform to access their learning. They can show their learning in a variety of ways, including drawings, photos and videos, and any other way that works for your family.
Each Friday, we will post their learning experiences grid for you to see what the next week's learning involves regardless of when your child attends preschool. The grid has links to videos, stories and explicit Videos of explicit teaching from their teachers will be sent to every family through Direct Message in Dojo. Links in the learning grid will provide access to additional resources and supports for learning. Students will upload their learning to their individual Dojo Portfolio for teachers to see and provide feedback.
Kindergarten to year 2 will use the Dojo Platform to access their learning each day. They can show their learning in a variety of ways, including in their exercise books, through drawings, photos and videos, and any other way that works for your family.
Each Friday, we will post their learning grid on this site, and on Dojo (as a post and Direct Message) for you to see what the next week's learning involves. Videos of explicit teaching will be sent to every family through Dojo. Links in the learning grid will provide access to additional resources and supports for learning. Students will upload their learning to their individual Dojo Portfolio for teachers to see and provide feedback.
Years 3 to 6 will access their learning through their Google Classroom. They will be able to show their learning in a variety of ways, including in their exercise books, through drawings, photos and videos. They will also be able to upload and show their learning on the Google Classroom.
Each Friday, years 3 and 4 will post their learning grid for the next week on this site to give an overview of what students will see in their classroom on the Monday. Years 5 and 6 will also post a timetable for you, but will post the learning in the classroom itself. Teachers will be explicit about how the learning should be shown and how to provide it to them for feedback.
See below for the overall timetable that will be used across the school. Year groups may differ slightly across the day, but all classes from kindergarten to year 6 will have Thursday to participate in specialist classes such as music, visual art, library, PACH and French. We will continue with last year's Screen Free Friday. Resources and ideas for Fridays are available on the page on this site and include a range of STEAM and Creative Thinking and Problem Solving Activities.
During remote learning, our teachers will continue to assess students using a range of different strategies and tools. This will be done in an age and stage appropriate way, and with awareness of the difficulty of the current circumstances. Some of these strategies will include
Collecting work samples on Class Dojo and Google Classroom
Using assessment strategies to determine level of understanding through conversations in Meets, using quizzes or other ways of checking for understanding
Providing specific and timely feedback to students to support them to move their learning forward. This feedback is provided in both written form and in Google Meets.
Documenting and collating observations of the learning of students in their classes and using this to inform their planning and teaching
Outlining the specific tasks for which they would like to see evidence
The collection of evidence of learning is integral for teachers to be able to accurately assess, provide feedback and plan for future learning. It will also support them to write accurate reports for students. If your family is having difficulty with the technical aspects of submitting learning, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or the school front office for support. For K-2, the activities with the camera icon are the priority learning tasks and this identifies that parents/carers/students need to upload a photo or video of this learning. This can be done via a Class Dojo portfolio post, Class Dojo message with attachment or via email if there are technical issues. In years 3-6 we are using the work uploaded on to classrooms, or completed in books to help us to provide accurate assessment of each child's learning.
Sometimes your child may need support to complete an activity. If you provide significant support on a task we ask that you write ‘parent assistance’ on the work sample or in the description. If you can provide more information on the type and amount of assistance, that may also support your child’s teacher to accurately assess, give feedback and plan for your child’s learning and to plan future learning experiences.
More information about remote learning for your child can be found on the pages for each year level. These will have all you need to know to help your child access their learning each week.
