YEAR 3

A MESSAGE FROM THE YEAR 3 TEAM

Dear Year 3 families,

Welcome to our online learning site! We are very excited to be reconnecting with all our students and learning together online. Below you will find a suggested timetable for learning, including the scheduled times for each class’ Google Meets, information videos and other additional learning videos and websites. We hope these are a fun way for your child to stay engaged in learning and feel connected to school.

Remote learning for year 3 will be accessed through Google Classroom, where all learning will be assigned weekly. Learning plans for the following week will also be posted on this page on a Friday afternoon. Feel free to post a photo of your child's learning onto Class Dojo as a portfolio post or as a message to the teacher.

We hope you stay safe and we look forward to seeing students in Google Meets and lots of photos of learning.

GOOgle classrooms & Google Meets

Google Classroom

We will be using Google Classrooms for our way to connect with students. Each child's learning for the week will be uploaded onto their Google Classroom and can be completed across the day. Google Meets or Hangouts will also be linked through this. Your child can access their Google Classroom through the Digital Backpack. You can find this link on our school website. If they cannot access it please contact the front office on 61420760 or via admin@nthainslieps.act.edu.au for support. If you are unsure how to use or access either of these features, click on the links to the left.

Google Meets

Each morning, all students will be required to participate in their class’ Google Meet to check in and for attendance purposes. This meet will only be a short, 15 minute time to check in with students and mark the roll. The middle of the day Google Meets are designed for teachers to be available online to support and clarify the learning tasks for students. On Monday, each class will also hold a compulsory Google Meet to allow teachers to run through the expectations of the week and read our class novels together.

How to submit work video.mp4

Submitting work to Google Classroom

Students will need to submit work on Google Classroom. There are 4-5 tasks each week that are “must do” tasks and need to be submitted. Students may also choose to submit “should do” and “could do” tasks.

There are two video explanations of how to submit work and photographs. There are also step-by-step instructions below.

1) Click on the learning task e.g. Literacy - Writing

It will show the instructions. Complete your work and take a photograph of it.

2) On the top right of the learning task page there is a box called Your Work. Under the Your Work heading is a

+ sign saying add or create.

3) Click on add or create. It will bring up a drop down menu. Look for the paperclip symbol beside the word File.

4) Click on file and select file from your device (phone). Hit open on that file, then upload.

5) That image of your work should now be sitting under the Your Work heading.

6) Click on the blue button that says Turn In.

accessing the google classroom

Your child can access their Google Classroom through the Digital Backpack. You can find this link at:

  1. the bottom of the 'Learning Remotely' page of this Google Site

  2. the school's website by clicking the Digital Backpack tab on the top banner.

Your child should already have access to the Google Classroom for their class, if they cannot access it please contact the front office on 61420760 or via admin@nthainslieps.act.edu.au for support.

Our timetable

Please note, that this is only a suggested timetable, similar to the routine students would have in the classroom. Learning remotely for each family will be different and should be altered to suit the needs of your own family. We’d ask that families schedule their own time for daily PE/Wellbeing when convenient. Students might like to get themselves set up at a desk or table with a writing pencil/pen, coloured pencils and their exercise book during the learning times.
