While we are starting with our left hand, that bow hold is still very fresh in our minds. Continue to start practice every day with 2-3 minutes of your bow hold exercises. This is very important to get comfortable with your bow hold and to make sure you use a good bow hold EVERY TIME you pick it up. Before playing every piece of music, always check your bow hold first.
Once you've done your bow hold exercises, spend another 2 minutes each day working on an EOEC exercise for our newest note or technique. This will help your muscles to get a good idea of how everything should be working. If your muscles know what they should feel like, you'll be able to keep your eyes on your music and trust your muscles and ear to work together to make sure the sound is being made correctly on your instrument.
Later in the week, when you really are sounding awesome on your pieces, you may start to get tired of practicing the same thing over, and over, and over, and over...you get my point. We get to move beyond our open strings to start creating more music by using fingers on our left hand. By placing 1 finger down on the fingerboard, we can create the note E. As you use the first finger, make sure you keep it hovering above the fingerboard so you can place it in the correct spot without having to look at your instrument.
