In our 3rd week of playing, we finally get into our lesson book "String Basics: Book 1." While we won't work straight through this book from cover to cover, we will start at the beginning. This week we are going to focus mostly on pages 4 & 5 on the basics of reading music for the D-String & the A-String. I'll also give you a challenge to go onto #11 & 12 on page 6 to start combining your skills together. Watch the below video for your instrument, continue to practice each exercise "Say, Sing, Play (5x)" and you'll be all set for your next lesson!
One of the best parts of playing an instrument is the opportunity to perform for people. After you've played a piece so many times that you are almost bored with the piece, it's time to show off your skills! As you approach your next lesson (1-2 days before your lesson) give a mini concert of your new skills to someone. It doesn't matter who you play for, people love music, and especially love a live performance. Perform for your parents and siblings. π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Play for your friends. π§πΌπ¦πΎ Call up grandparents and aunts & uncles on Facetime or Duo and give them a recital. π§πΏβπ¦³π¨π½βπ¦³Play for your stuffed animals and pets. πΆπΉπJust perform! The more you perform, the more comfortable and confident you will feel while playing, and the more smiles you will put on peoples faces! π
