Teen Advisory Committee in Edgewood
If you are a middle-school or high-school student who wants fun events for teens to happen in Edgewood, come to a meeting and share your ideas (or just listen). Teens' ideas drive this group!
Be part of turning those ideas into actual teen events and activities -- Teen Nites, Movie Nites, Holiday Fun, and more!
We have a great group that meets at 5:45pm on the first and third Tuesday of each month at Edgewood Town Hall, and all are welcome to attend.

Upward Basketball & Cheer Needs Volunteers!
Upward has been an important winter sports activity for 12 years with over 170 players and cheerleaders in the past few years. They are looking for assistant coaches, running the sound board, playing music, keeping score, refereeing, announcing or helping with concessions.
Practices start November 10 and the season continues to late February. Games will be on Friday nights, 5:30 to 8:30 PM and Saturdays, 9 AM to 3:30 PM.

Volunteer at the Animal Welfare Dept!
The Animal Welfare Department is seeking volunteers. From walking dogs to fostering or working an adoption event, there is always something you can do to help.
The department is looking for volunteers who love to help animals. The department will work with people and their schedules, and they only need to volunteer six hours per month. Right now they are in need of people to walk dogs.

The East Mountain Food Pantry is in Need of Volunteers!
The East Mountain Food Pantry is in need of drivers for our refrigerated truck (training provided) for our Food Rescue Program (Monday-Friday at approximately 6:00 am). We are also in need of volunteers in the early morning hours (about 6:30 am to approximately 8:00 am Monday-Friday) to help unload, sort and stock rescued items. Some lifting is required. All volunteer hours will be approved as service hours for EMHS. If you can help or for questions please contact Cindy Hunt by text or phone call at (505) 459-0183.
One Albuquerque Volunteers
What to get involved in community service projects in Albuquerque? Become a member of One Albuquerque and find a meaningful project for you!
The City of Albuquerque Library system just relaunched its volunteer programs after a break during the pandemic. Step up to promote literacy in your neighborhood, keep your library beautiful, sort seeds for the seed library, or check out the newest addition to our library system--the International District Library.
Get connected to Albuquerque's memorial for service members who fought for our country. Help staff the front desk, be a docent for the exhibits, or just pitch in to keep the park clean. Visit the park on Saturday and Sunday nights this month for Shakespeare under the stars--King Lear and As You Like It will be performed here free of cost.

Meals on Wheels In Need of Volunteers
Meals on Wheels In Need of Volunteers
One in seven New Mexicans struggle with hunger. At Meals on Wheels, they offer home-delivered meals, wellness checks, and a friendly face to those who need it most. They’ve not only continued delivering throughout the pandemic but have actually increased their amount of clients which means they need all the more help. 10th - 12 grade are allowed to submit a maximum of 10 hours per school year for carpooling another EMHS student towards their community service hours!
East Mountain High School students are required to complete 20 hours of community service each year for a total of 80 hours as a part of their graduation requirements. East Mountain High School uses an online service called x2VOL that records and tracks our students community service hours. Current students who have an existing account can login to x2VOL. New students will set up their accounts with Tamara Marcelain during Advocacy in the Fall.
Incoming freshmen may begin accumulating community service hours during the summer months prior to their freshmen year at EMHS. Community service hours do carry over from year to year.
