FREE Books for High School Students on 9/12 & 9/13!
On Saturday and Sunday, September 12th and 13th (10am-5pm), St. John’s College will be giving a FREE paperback classic to any highschooler who visits one of our three partner bookstores: Books on the Bosque, Bookworks, and Page 1 Books. Free titles include classics like The Odyssey, Frankenstein, or Bless Me, Ultima—but the list is open.
We invite students to come and talk with us about what makes a book a classic in the first place.
St. John’s College is America’s Great Books College, and we are on a continuing mission to get young people off their screens, reading real books, and having face-to-face conversations that stretch their minds and move their spirits. St. John’s is partnering with independent bookstores to give away classic books—and to discuss questions like “What is a classic?” or “What does reading mean in our current moment?” with interested students. At each location, community leaders, visiting book influencers, and local Albuquerque content creators will join St. John’s alumni, staff, and faculty members to talk about books and the rewards and challenges of a life of reading and conversation.
