6th Grade - Junior Youth Conservation Corps is Paying a Stipend! Apply NOW!

If you are interested in the outdoors, nature, or doing conservation work, we have the program for you! In the Talking Talons Junior Youth Conservation Corps, you will go out once a month and do conservation work such as invasive species removal, seed planting, and ecological monitoring at the Tijeras Biozone Open Space. You will earn $25 per session, up to $225 total. The program is first-come, first-served, so come grab the flyer from Mr. Anderson as soon as possible!

The Junior Youth Conservation Corps program for Middle Schoolers consists of nine monthly sessions from September to May, during which a group of 12 middle schoolers participates in conservation work at the Tijeras Biozone Open Space or the Tijeras Creek Remediation Project. Due to the success of our previous years, we will be hosting three different crews this year! They will receive a stipend of $25 per session they attend, but must attend at least six out of the nine sessions to receive payment.

LANL’s High School Internship Fall Application is Due on 9/18

The application for Fall 2026 is NOW OPEN on our Student Programs Website.

Applicants can now browse and select specific projects listed in our High School Project Description Book.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be a high school senior during the internship

• 16 years of age or older
  Minimum 2.75 GPA

• Enrolled in a New Mexico high school

• Must pass a pre-employment drug test
