How to Register and Pay for AP Exams

STEP ONE

Create a CollegeBoard account if you do not already have one.

If you have previously taken an AP exam or have taken PSAT or SAT (even if through Duke TIP), then you already have an account.  Do not create a second account.

If you need help recovering your account, contact CollegeBoard at 888.225.5427 or 866-315-6068.

STEP TWO

Join your teacher's AP Classroom.

Your teacher will give you their Join Code -- an AP exam can only be ordered for you if you have joined a teacher's AP Classroom.

If you plan to take an AP exam for a class in which you are not enrolled, contact AP Coordinator Lisa Saunders at APExams@eanesisd.net for a special join code.

STEP THREE

Select & pay for exam in Total Registration.

Login (or create an account), select each exam you plan to take. At the end you will be given an option to pay for the exam with a credit card or instructions on how to pay by check. All payments are made to Total Registration.

AP exams will NOT be ordered unless they have been paid for.

STEP FOUR

Verify that your order is complete.

Log into your College Board account 48 hours after payment has been made to be sure you are registered for each exam you plan to take.

Accessing Your AP Exam Scores

Scores will be available in July. Access your scores here.

AP Exams and College Credit/Placement

Earning a score of 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam MAY lead either to college credit or to placing out of a prerequisite course at your college.  The more selective the university, the less likely you are to earn credit (though placement is still an option in some instances).  In Texas, with the passage of HB 1992, all public colleges will award credit for a score of 3 or higher on AP exams.

If you are a senior, you might explore the AP credit policies at the schools you are applying to; depending on what you learn, you might decide to not take the AP exam to save some money and some stress.
