Course Changes for the Current School Year

Students who wish to request a course change may do so by completing this form.

Students who are dropping/changing a sport or program need to have communicated with the coach/director. Counselors will need an email from your coach/sponsor before your request can be processed.

Level DOWN requests: September 24, 2025.

Course Selection Schedule: Current High School Students

Course selection (the process by which students select courses for next school year) will begin in January 2025. Students, in collaboration with their parents, will select courses and enter their requests into the four-year plan (Career Plan) in Skyward. This plan must be signed annually by both student and parent. Course requests for the following school year are pulled from the Career Plan. The deadline for current high school students to complete this process is Friday, February 21st, 2025.

- January 22, 2025 -- Information session for juniors during English class periods
- January 24, 2025 -- Information session for freshmen during Biology class periods
- January 27, 2025 -- Information session for sophomores during Chemistry and IPC class periods

Additionally, counselors will meet briefly one-on-one with each freshmen and sophomore students to answer questions and assist with four-year-planning and course selection.

A parent meeting will be held on January 23rd at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Information will be available via email.

Course Selection Schedule: Rising 9th Graders

For students who will be transitioning to ninth grade, course selection begins with middle school counselors meeting with 8th grade classes to review the requirements for graduation and begin building a 4-year plan. This is followed by a parent night and course fair for 8th graders at the high school. Subsequently, high school counselors will visit both middle schools to review students' 4-year plans and assist them with entering their plan into Skyward (where it's called the Career Plan).

- Early February, 2025-Middle school counselors meet with current 8th graders to begin course selection. The presentation can be viewed here.
- February 12, 2025 -- Freshman Transition Night (parent meeting and course fair) at Westlake.
  - - The course fair will run from 6:00 -7:30.
    - There will also be a presentation for parents in the Performing Arts Center at 6:00. The presentation can be found here.
- February 20-21, 2025 -- High school counselors meet with students at West Ridge Middle School. The presentation can be found here.
- February 25, 27, 28, 2025 -- High school counselors meet with students at Hill Country Middle School. The presentation can be found here.

March 13, 2025 is the deadline for rising 9th graders to enter the four-year-plan (career plan) in Skyward. Course requests for 9th grade will be pulled from the 4-year career plan. Students will have an opportunity to update their plan each year.
