Accommodations

Requesting Standardized Testing Accommodations

Some students may qualify for accommodations on college entrance exams. Decisions regarding accommodations on ACT and College Board (SAT, PSAT, and AP exams) are made by those entities and not by Westlake High School. Often Westlake High School will provide supports and accommodations for students that College Board and ACT will not grant. College Board and ACT are independent companies and are not required to match accommodations provided in a school setting.

Additionally, accommodations for ACT or College Board exams may look different than what a student receives in class at Westlake High School. For an ACT or SAT/PSAT exam, extended time for some students might mean anywhere from 6 hours of testing in a single day to testing across two or more days. In many cases, multiple-day testing means one or more days might be during the regular school day (meaning you would miss your classes for part or all of that day). Also, students must have a formalized school plan in place that documents the student's disability and academic supports they receive at school.

Finally, it could take as little as two weeks or up to seven weeks for accommodations to be approved.

If you have any questions about the accommodation request process please contact campus SSD Coordinator, Bryan Shippey at bshippey@eanesisd.net, 512-732-9280 ext. 33008.
