The RRCY ensures that every resident continues their education, whether through formal classes under the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) or through non-formal literacy and numeracy programs. Education is tailored to the individual’s current academic level and learning pace. This ensures no youth is left behind academically while in rehabilitation.
Vocational and technical training programs are offered in partnership with TESDA and other training institutions. Skills such as welding, hair cutting, goose and duck raising, bonsai planting and baking are taught to equip residents with employable competencies. Hands-on workshops allow for immediate application of skills learned.
These programs aim to empower youth with the ability to support themselves after discharge. By having marketable skills, residents are less likely to return to conflict with the law due to unemployment or lack of livelihood opportunities. Practical life skills such as budgeting, time management, and basic entrepreneurship are also integrated.
Educational activities go beyond academics, focusing on character formation, leadership, and teamwork. Residents participate in school events, debates, and creative arts projects to broaden their perspectives. The goal is to promote both intellectual and personal growth.
Ultimately, the RRCY’s educational services serve as a bridge toward self-reliance, dignity, and a renewed sense of purpose in life.
