The Center can also serve as venues for the provision of opportunities to acquire leadership and life skills training to expand their sense of responsibility towards themselves and to others. In particular, conduct of Peer Mentoring Training Programs are held in the Center for potential clients to help them develop transferable social skills, such as self-management and communications skills. This also aims to enhance supportive relationships between the clients and develop key talent through boosting engagement.
Trained peer mentors will be mobilized through assigning a peer/s to them with whom they will conduct regular support sessions. These support sessions would take place every two weeks at a minimum and would follow a structured session form such as:
• Check in
• Update on mentoring
• Discuss achievements and problems
• Closing activity
The focal would also offer regular support sessions with peer mentors to allow them to discuss worries, concerns, and achievements. Further, it allows mentors to feel safe in their role and continuously develop their skills and abilities in mentoring through peer support mechanisms and practical support and advice.
In addition, dormitory leaders and assistant leaders are assigned per phase. Their main role is to assist the Center staff to implement the Gabay sa Residente and oversee the compliance of their dormmates. Every Monday Program, dormitory leaders provide their updates and feedback about the concerns from their respective phases.
The leadership skills of clients are also developed by dividing them into groups during programs and special events in the Center. They will be involved in friendly competition with the contests that are specifically designed for each event. Each group would have their leaders who will be in charge of guiding and managing the members to achieve victory or desired result.
