This is the final draft of my synthesis essay for AP Lang, where we analyzed whether Arthur Miller, the writer of The Crucible, accurately portrayed his characters according to the historical-archetypal model of the real people in history. From writing this essay, I learned that good writing takes time, effort, and careful thought. I also discovered the importance of deeply analyzing each character to truly understand them. This is the final draft of my rhetorical essay for AP Lang, where we analyzed Arthur Miller’s claims about why he wrote The Crucible and the rhetorical choices he used to support his argument. From this essay, I learned the different ways authors can hide messages and deeper meanings in their work to reflect their own experiences. I also realized that even characters in plays can serve as self-inserts for authors to express their thoughts, emotions, and perspectives.
