I have accumalted over 283 hours in my two years of being at Drew.
Here how I achived this:
Rhoer Club is an organization where giving back to the community is one of our core values. We have organized several donation drives, including hygiene kits, school supplies, clothing, and books. One meaningful experience I had was creating a donation box for period poverty, which collected menstrual products to donate to Nicholas House, a shelter that supports homeless women and families. This project allowed me to not only support a vital cause but also raise awareness about an issue that often goes unnoticed
Step Up is a girls’ empowerment club where we learn career skills, college readiness, and how to use what we’ve learned to give back to our community. As a group, we’ve organized various drives, including toy and clothing donations. I’ve personally contributed by volunteering with Toys for Tots, helping collect and distribute gifts to children in need. This club has helped me grow not only as a student but also as a leader and active community member.
Book Buddies is a club where, once a month, I visit a group of first graders to read with them and serve as a mentor. I especially love this club because it gives me the chance to interact with young children and build meaningful, lasting relationships. It’s a rewarding experience to see how excited they are to read and how much they look forward to our visits. Being a part of Book Buddies has shown me the power of connection and the joy of encouraging a love for reading at an early age.
