Vincent Kray - Unit 5 Land & Water Usage Research Project

This project focused on the environmental impacts of mining on land and water systems. I researched how mining activities can lead to habitat destruction, soil erosion, and water pollution, including real-world examples like the Gold King Mine spill. I also examined laws such as the Clean Water Act and explored sustainable solutions like land reclamation and improved waste management. Overall, this project helped me understand the balance between resource use and environmental protection.

Abstraction - 3/7/24

People started using abstraction in Modernist art after the camera was created, because a camera could captures scenes, but not the emotion in those scenes. This is similar to other cultures, however, in African cultures they use abstract forms and visual metaphors to convey different messages. Abstract art can be related to math through the use of geometrical concepts, including shapes, proportion, and measurement. Data can be applied to art to make different shapes, and colors.  I like to work in a way that is more personally expressive.

Borax is a salt, a hydrated or anhydrous borate of sodium, with the chemical formula Na₂H₂₀B₄O₁₇. It is a colorless crystalline solid that dissolves in water to make a basic solution. Boron is united with oxygen and soda. Hot water allows more borax to be dissolved and it lets the borax become super saturated. As the water cools it loses solubility, and it cant hold all the borax anymore, causes the borax to crystalize on the pipe cleaner. My structure is dynamic because it is asymmetrical and it has an unusual shape.

10/30/23 Visual Arts

  1. This year I have been taught about the rule of thirds and this relates to photography because it is  principle in photography to have good pictures.

  2. This year I have created a Mandela with designs on each layer, and I made a scene incorporating an element to demonstrate that I understand principles of design.

  3. During my planning I think about how different possibilities will have different outcomes, and I show my process through sketches and drawings.

  4. This year we have learned about Mandala artwork.

10.25.23

I can: Explain the purpose of returning a value from a function, define functions that return values, and create a program that will have functions with returning values by the end of class.

In this picture, I defined what quadruple x was by giving it a value of 4 times x. Then I reassigned what x was 3 different times to change my output, which shows that I know how to define functions that return values, know how to explain a returning value from a function, and it shows I can create a program that has function with returning values.

10.23.22 Objective:

I can: Define functions that take multiple parameters as input, and use print statements for output. Yes

This is proof that I can define functions that take multiple parameters as input and print statements for output, because I defined feet and inches in the function name, and then I converted the height into inches first. After I converted to inches I converted the inches into centimeters, and finally converted the centimeters into meters. When I had all the conversions, I printed different heights and converted them to meters.

10/18/23 Objectives:

I can: Explain and define the purpose of python functions Yes

I can: Utilize, define, and call functions that take in parameters as input to solve simple problems. Yes

This picture shows that I can do these things because I named the function triple, and defined it by inputting code that triples the number given.  Then I called the function on lines 7 and 8 and I inputted a number into the parenthesis to triple the given number.

Test Corrections 10/16/23

I can do better by analyzing the questions better on the tests, and figuring out unkown words.

9/27/23 Mandela Research

Another use of Mandela's can be to help restore balance.  Mandela's are used to focus the mind in meditation, teach people in religious training, and guide a meditating person to spiritual healing and enlightenment.  In Hindu and Buddhist cultures in particular, mandalas and thangkas serve as a representation of the universe and a guide on the path to enlightenment.  In the Mandela's I can see pattern, variety and repetition. The inner circle of the Mandela could be the nucleus, and could include the neutrons and the protons. The outer ring could be the electron cloud and could have electrons.

Warm-Up  9/11

The upbringing of AI could hurt art in a few different ways. One way in which AI could hurt art is it will take the originality out of art.  Another way AI can harm art is the fact that AI can draw "perfectly". Humans are not perfect, and when they create art, the imperfections make the art look better. With AI there will be no imperfections, making the art look weird and unoriginal. This is related to computer science because soon, AI will take over peoples coding jobs because they are better at doing these actions.

Unit 0 Reflection AP world history

The Neolithic Revolution would lead to injustices because of cultural differences, and social classes. Before the Neolithic Revolution, the world would be more egalitarian, with both men and women working towards the same goal of getting food. An example of this was the Caste system in India. This system made the goal of life for lower class to die and try to be reincarnated into a higher one. Men and women now had different rights, and civilizations would become more patriarchal.

Neolithic technology would change the world forever, and these same inventions would still be used to this day. Some examples are the wheel, which would easily wallow transportation, and also when paired with other inventions such as the levi, would allow more industrial inventions to come along. Another example is clay pots. This would allow much more storage, and conservation of food.

Interrogation trade routes would help the spread of religion because of the connections with different cultures. An example is the silk roads, which would connect Asia with other parts of the world, and many different religions would connect with each other.

Centralized governments are where both executive and legislative power is all concentrated at one higher level, instead of being distributed through many different people. An example of this would be the Song dynasty. A decentralized government is where the power is divided between many different people/parties. An example of this would be General Ashoka's government.

Six Significant terms

Egalitarian - Equality

Patriarchal - Ruled by men

Centralized government - where all of the power is in one place

Decentralized government - were the power is spread

Specialized labor - Labor that is for certain jobs.

Cross-cultural - The connections between different cultures/religions

7/26/2023 What is art? How can other subjects be art?

Art is a way to be able to express how you are feeling through creative acts. There are many different things that can be considered art; from painting and drawing, to assembling trash in a container, or even taping a banana on a wall. All of these things are ways that people express themselves and it is considered art. ELA relates to art because when you are writing things that is a way to express yourself. Geometry can also be art because there are many diffferent shapes and patterns that can be made with geommetry.
