For our year long project, we were tasked with chosing a latin american country to follow throughout the year. I chose to follow Colombia because I had an exchange student from colombia before and I wanted to learn more about the country and their culture. within my site their are different sections with information on the population, government, culture, and values of colombian people. This project has taught me the importance of language and how it contributes to culture. In our class we also discuss National Identity and how it can influence a persons every day life. In regards to the class, I think my writing skills have improved as I have had to write and defend my ideas in spanish a lot on this project.
Para nuestro proyecto de un año, se nos asignó elegir un país de América Latina para seguir a lo largo del año. Elegí seguir a Colombia porque antes tuve un estudiante de intercambio de Colombia y quería aprender más sobre el país y su cultura. Dentro de mi sitio hay diferentes secciones con información sobre la población, el gobierno, la cultura y los valores del pueblo colombiano. Este proyecto me ha enseñado la importancia del idioma y cómo contribuye a la cultura. En nuestra clase también discutimos la identidad nacional y cómo puede influir en la vida cotidiana de una persona. En cuanto a la clase, creo que mis habilidades de escritura han mejorado, ya que he tenido que escribir y defender mis ideas en español mucho en este proyecto.

(The Best Destination to Visit)
For this project I had to create a presentation arguing why my country, Colombia, is the best place to visit. On my presentation, I highlighted many cities to travel to, activities to experience, places to stay, and the climate of different regions of the country. I also included some interesting fun facts relating to natural destinations. This project was fun for me because I've never been to the country but it has encouraged me to want to travel here. It also allowed me to learn more about the culture of the country.
Para este proyecto tuve que crear una presentación argumentando por qué mi país, Colombia, es el mejor lugar para visitar. En mi presentación, destaqué muchas ciudades para viajar, actividades para experimentar, lugares para alojarse y el clima de diferentes regiones del país. También incluí algunos datos curiosos interesantes relacionados con destinos naturales. Este proyecto fue divertido para mí porque nunca he ido al país, pero me ha motivado a querer viajar aquí. Además, me permitió aprender más sobre la cultura del país.
For this mini project, my group used public health data to create a mathematical model based on a communicable disease in the U.S. I researched gonorrhea infection rates over the past 50 years, entered the data into Desmos, and used regression to find the best-fitting model. We then used the model to predict infection trends for the next 50 years and created a polished presentation using AI tools and Canva before publishing the final project in my digital portfolio.

Resource-Depletion & Overshoot Poster
For this assignment, my group researched the causes and effects of resource depletion and ecological overshoot, focusing on how population growth and over-consumption strain Earth’s natural systems. We brainstormed multiple realistic solutions, evaluated their feasibility and impact, and selected one to develop further. We then designed an activist-style poster using facts, visuals, and a clear call to action to persuade political leaders to adopt our solution. Finally, we presented our poster and explained our reasoning, including the benefits, challenges, and real-world trade-offs involved.
