For this assignment I was tasked with picking a song and analyzing the literary devices that the artist used in the song. Then we wrote a thesis that argues that music is poetry because of literary terms. Finally I wrote an argumentative essay supporting why this song is the greatest song by uses the literary devices to support my argument.
The prompt for this essay was: If The Great Gatsby is an allegory for social class in America, what does the fate of the characters reveal about American society and the American Dream? In your thesis, compare the fate of at least two characters. In my essay I analyzed the fates of Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby and compared them to each other. I also drew comparisons between the social classes in the 1900s and the social classes today.
