For our sophmore PBL Project, we had to learn about Pablo Picasso's Guernica Paintaing, and the meaning behind it. We learned the movement and anti-war message of the Spanish Civil War. From this, we formed groupd os 3-4 students in our ChemVAS (Chemistry + Visual Arts) and Literature & Composition classes, and collaborated on a world issue to bring awareness to. In my Literature & Composition class, my group researched one conflict that needed more attention, which was gun violence, and created a PSA video. In Chemistry, we learned the chemistry behind creating paint, and my group and I created our own green paint color. In Visual Arts, we created a painting/drawing of our version of the Guernica, but with our issue/conflict, which was no vaping.

AP World History, World Lit., ChemVAS| Ms. Wynn, Ms. Cain, Dr. Kurt, Ms. Garner
In my World Literature, ChemVAS, and AP World class, I learned about the effects that the Columbian Exchange had on America. In AP World, we analyzed the different foods that traveled from Europe and Africa to America, and even conducted our own cook off where we made cuisines with limited ingredients. In World Literature, we wrote our own recipe books with our main ingredients being popular foods that spreaded throughout the exchange. For my group we chose banana pudding since bananas came from West Africa. In Chemistry, we learned about the molecular and ionic bonding that occurs when ingredients form together to make food. In Visual Arts, we created pottery dishes and silverware to place on our placemats.
Overall, the project was an engaging way for my group members and I to not only learn about the Columbian Exchange, but to understand the processes behind making foods from various cultures and backgrounds.
