Ms. Williams & Ms. Jones' Class

No Snack Day!

Entry Event:

On Monday, March 18, we came back from the weekend only to discover that all of our snacks were missing! We needed to problem solve ways to get our snack. The students came up with this list. We brainstormed ways to solve this problem and the kindergartners realized that we will have to work to earn money to buy snack. Luckily, Ms. Cannon in the library was looking for help cleaning the school library. We worked for Ms. Cannon to straighten books and dust the library.

Quincy and Paul wiping shelves.

Adaya straightening books in the library.

Janelle getting rid of all the dust from the shelves.

Teresa and Riley making the library look as good as new.

Delayah and Julia getting low to straighten the books.

Aicha working to get the books neater on the shelves.

Max taking charge of the low section too.

Joyfil and Pierce tackling the big books.

Entry Event Reflections

Quincy felt sad that we had no snacks, but we had a solution to our problem.

Alieu was sad as well, but after getting a job, we could buy snacks.

Briar's anger turned to happiness after we cleaned the library to make money.

Adaya was sad too. Making money for snacks brightened her day!

Julia quickly realized that by having a job, she could make money.

Austin felt disappointed when we didn't have snacks.

Kennedy was surprised to find we didn't have snacks!

Jobs in Our Community

Students realized that people work to be able to earn money and buy things that they need or want. They had many examples of jobs that people can have. Students brainstormed jobs of family members and friends, as well as reflected on places that they have been in their communities that provided goods and services. Our list ranges from spies to urban planners to firemen and engineers.

Spending Money: What should we buy for our classroom?

Now that students understood that we have to work to earn money, we discussed things that we wanted to purchase for our classroom. The students came up with some interesting and thoughtful suggestions that would benefit the class.

Cooper wants new sight words for the class.

Nahsir wants a watch for the classs.

Paul wants a plant!

Pierce suggested we get Mrs. Allen a table.

We voted and decided that we would buy a robot kitten or fidget spinner for our classroom. If we made $25 or more, we will buy the robot kitten. If we made $15 or more, we would buy fidget spinners.

Let's Start a Business!

Toys and Things!

Toys and Things is a store that will sell goods. The goods we will focus on are necklaces, trucks, lemonade, and paintings.

Scarlett and the class chose to sell the necklaces for 25 cents.

Holden and the class settled on the paintings selling for 15 cents.

Janelle and the class decided the lemonade will sell for 10 cents.

Riley and the class decided to sell trucks for 20 cents.

We need you to become an Investor in Toys and Things!

After students created their business plans, they invited parents and other community members to become investors in their small business. We had a huge response in support of our store. Families brought in items that would help make the products or they donated money. We were able to create enough products to sell in our store.

We would like to thank the following individuals for becoming investors in our business.

1. The Gueye Family (Aicha) 2. The Hoeyng Family (Paul) 3. The Baynes Family (Kayden) 4. The Waggoner Family (Kennedy) 5. The Brown Family (Holden) 6. The Monroe Family (Scarlett) 7. The Crisp Family (Riley) 8. The Piszko Family (Julia) 9. The Williams Family (Teresa) 10. The Garcia Family (Pierce) 11. The Weinberg Family (Cooper)
