Entry Event:
On Monday, March 18, we came back from the weekend only to discover that all of our snacks were missing! We needed to problem solve ways to get our snack. The students came up with this list. Mrs. Perryman happened to come in our room right when we were trying to decide which solution would work best for us. She told us about how her mail and paper deliveries were backed up. She also needed help moving the copy paper to a new location.
Students delivered mail and paper for Mrs. Perryman.
A lot of mail had built up over the break so we had our hands full!
Mrs. Perryman paid us for the work we did. Mrs. Simmons took the money we earned and bought our snacks.
Carter felt sad when we didn't have any snack.
Simeon felt disappointed.
Gabe felt sad when we didn't have snack.
Isaac felt sad when we didn't have snack!
Nora felt sad we didn't have snacks. She solved the problem by doing work and getting paid!
Students brainstormed a list of reasons for why people might work.
They also listed out different jobs that people have.
Elyse wants to save for a trampoline. It will cost $6,000
Gabby wants a bichon. It will cost $4,000.
Deonte wants to save his money for ice cream. The ice cream will cost $9.99
Geordan wants to save his money for a toy car. He will need to save $1.80.
Jala wants a backpack that rolls. She says it will cost $39.50.
Each student took part in the voting process. They were each given four votes and the top 5 products won! We are selling beaded jewelry, snack mix, used books, play doh, and plants.
Each student designed a poster for one of our products. We then took the designs and voted on the ones that represented the product and the pricing well. The winning design was put into the final ad and then given to Ms. Thomas' class so they knew what they could buy!
