For the Sundiata Project, students had to complete several steps. First, they had to read the story of Sundiata. Next, they had to complete several worksheets for reading comprehension of the story. Then, students were assigned groups. In those groups, students had to re-tell the story of Sundiata in video format. The video had to meet several requirements. Those requirements were:
Students learned the value of teamwork in this project. When one group member did not cooperate, the entire team suffered. Collaboration points were taken away, affecting everyone’s score.
Students also learned there can be several themes in a story. For example, the story of Sundiata was comprised of several short stories so there was a theme to each one. One of the themes/morals was, every great hero starts out small. Another moral was greediness does not go unpunished.
