MLK Day of Service
During Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day, I took the opportunity to give back to my community by helping those in need in Atlanta. I created food packages for the homless, sorted out clothing, and colored a picture to give to a military service member/Jamacian child in need of positivity. I was filled with immense happiness at the thought of giving back to my community and providing greatness and strength to those who suffer the baggage of negativity and loss.
R.I.S.E Afterschool Program
RISE Afterschool Program is an afterschool program created by Drew staff member Keayonna Reaves at the Elememtary Academy. Ever since I've been given the wonderful opportunity to help teachers and pre-K students, I've accumulated relationships like no other with children I never thought would become accustomed to me. They've taught me patience, love, and growth. They gave me a glimpse of what life was like when I was their age. They gave me numerous hugs and compliments, asked for my advice, told me their worries, and gave me the chance to be a helping hand in all aspects. The teachers have shown me gratefulness, causing a wide smile to rise upon my face. I'm extremely appreciative to have created such great relationships in a small amount of time. They gave me hope that I could be the light of someone's day, the same way they are to mine.
