Monstrosity goes beyond physical appearance, representing the unknown, feared, and misunderstood. Throughout history, monsters have symbolized societal fears, moral dilemmas, and cultural anxieties. This project allowed us to explore the concept of monstrosity, both literally and metaphorically, focusing on themes like alienation, prejudice, and fear of the 'other.' By examining representations in literature, modern texts, and real-world examples, we were able to understand how the idea of monstrosity has evolved and its impact on contemporary culture.
Based on this understanding, we created a final video, shot list, and script for the story we developed, titled 'Elizabeth's Story.' It follows the journey of a young vampire girl who must battle the economic and societal pressures surrounding her and her mother. (This project was created with my partners Jewel Edwards, Jamiracle Tukes, Layla Sheppard, Donald Humphrey, William Long, and Jayla Johnson).
This is the final video.
