AP Human Geography

In AP Human Geography, we are given assigned countries to complete assignments for. For this one in particular, we were asked to predict our population's growth in 40 years and make propaganda posters that will most likely be needed in order to control the population. I was assigned the country of South Africa — a country that would have a population that would benefit from equal distribution. Due to long-lasting effects of the apartheid, most of the country's population lives in poverty explaining why the infant mortality rate is so low. Distributing the country's wealth more evenly would allow for more women to have access to proper healthcare, decreasing the rate of infant mortatliy. 

In Unit 5 of AP Human Geography, we discussed agriculture, the domestication of plants and animals, and the diffusion of these plants and animals. We started off by watching the documentary "Food Inc" about the food industry and what really happens behind the scenes. We learned about the differences in how big companies that use intensive farming produce food versus smaller subsistent farmers produce food.

This assignment called for us to explore google maps and how to create your own. We viewed 13 different coming-of-age rituals among multiple global cultures like Vanuatu, Malaysia, Tanzania, and even Pennsylvania. After completing extensive research on each ritual, we then mapped each location and added a description and picture that went with it.
