In my first week in the Programming Club, we worked on the basics of the coding language of HTML. We used the website Replit to learn about tags and inserting images into a website. I enjoyed learning the basics in an achievable way through the Replit tutorial. Below is a screenshot of what I accomplished this week:
This week we progressed our Hello World project by reviewing CSS styling and designing a border for our personal websites.
In the initial month of Reading Bowl, we assigned books and started to understand our strengths and weaknesses as a team. Each week, we chose a book to answer questions on, and each student studied the questions for the book we chose. There are officially 6 members of our team. This includes Amber Nelms, Mattie Tibbets, Lucinda Peterson, Anabelle Hebner, Ruby Schattenberg, and myself.
Our team worked hard and specialized in up to 7 books each and gained close knowledge of the characters, the plot, themes, and minute details. We practiced with a buzzer system weekly, and committed time after school to further our proficiency. Our teamwork and perseverance eventually led us to win the district Reading Bowl competition, and come second in APS-wide competition.
