“Having a digital version of a fiction or non-fiction text book open on the big screen allows you to analyse and annotate the text whenever the opportunity presents itself.”
The idea of using digital books in the classroom isn’t to replace paper books; it is an additional resource to create opportunities that weren’t possible before. Let’s imagine a class are reading Great Expectations, everyone is reading from a paper-based book like usual. With the use of the eBook library, the teacher can open the book on the big screen.
This provides the teacher with the ability to stop at a certain point and analyse the text whenever the opportunity presents itself. If the book is opened using Microsoft Edge (an updated version of Internet Explorer), the teacher can also directly annotate on the screen by using the built in pen tool. The page can then be saved as an image to share with the class via a preferred platform such as email, Show My Homework or Google Classroom.
