National Doctor's Day

In India, we celebrate Doctor's Day on the 1st of July in honour of Dr Bidhaan Chandra Roy's birth and death anniversary. Dr B C Roy, a Bharat Ratna Awardee, was a renowned physician, a freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of West Bengal.
Delhi Public School Lava, Nashik and Varanasi hosted a Webinar to express gratitude to doctors.....the saviours ..who gift us good health. Dr Shubhada Khirwadkar, Pediatrician, Adolescent Expert and President IAP Nagpur, Dr Dharmendra Jain, Professor and Head, Department of Cardiology, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, Dr Hemant Sonanis, Psychiatrist and the current President, of Indian Medical Association Nashik, and Dr Vilas Chakor, a Consultant, practising as a Psychiatrist, in Nashik were the panellists.
In a live Q and A session the esteemed doctors patiently responded to several questions posed by the students. Each one laid stress on following the appropriate safety rules in the wake of the impending third wave. Physical exercise, nurturing a hobby, chipping in with housework, adequate sleep, nutritious food, limited use of gadgets and regulating time spent on social media was their mantra for students feeling closeted and isolated at home. For those who aspired to become doctors, the eminent panellists shared words of counsel. Compassion, the desire to help people, dedication and readiness for hard work was the key. It was important to strive to become good human beings only then can one become a good doctor, engineer, teacher, lawyer, artist..in fact, anything one aspired to become.
Aakruti and Priyanshu of DPS Nashik set the tone with their welcome note. Anushka, Saanvi, Shardul and Ayush from DPS Lava introduced the eminent doctors and Roushan from DPS Varanasi proposed the Vote of Thanks.

DPS Lava in collaboration with OXFAM INDIA and YLAC – Youth Leaders for Active Citizenship launched the ‘EQUALITY CLUB’ for students of Grade IX on Saturday, July 3, 2021. Ms Aanchal Jain from the organization had a lovely interactive session with the participants.
The objective of the Equality Club is to familiarize students with the different types of inequalities – economic, gender, religious – that exist in society, help build empathy and appreciation of one’s privilege, and inspire students to take action. These clubs can serve as a great platform for students to build critical thinking, explore challenging societal problems, break stereotypes and gain the skills necessary to take on social leadership.

COURAGE and INSPIRATION - LIFE in the ARMED FORCES
'If one is passionate about what one does, happiness and success are bound to follow,' was Maj. Gen. Kohli's mantra and message to all the students.
Major General Mandeep Singh Kohli addressed the students of Delhi Public School Lava, Nashik and Varanasi on 7th July 2021. Maj. Gen. Kohli has had a very distinguished career spanning over 36 years in the Indian Army. In an hour-long session Maj. Gen. Kohli shared his personal experiences of life in the Armed Forces. Hailing from a civilian background Maj. Gen. Kohli was like any other hardworking student who aspired for a fulfilling career.
A career in the Armed Forces said Maj Gen. Kohli, will empower and enable every individual to realise his/ her dreams. The NDA. IMA, Officers Training Academy, are places where young officers are groomed and students need to prepare and appear for their exams. He shed light on the opportunities open in the three Services and urged students to explore options.
The session was indeed awe-inspiring. Students from Grades IX-XII attended the session and were inspired by this iconic officer of the Indian Army.
French National Day

The National Day of France is celebrated on the 14th of July, Delhi Public School Lava celebrated the day with students from Grades V- VIII. The celebration began with a brief history of France; the anchors also spoke about the importance of Bastille Day.
Ms Anupuma Sagdeo, the Principal of the school, addressed the students in French. She highlighted the importance of learning and understanding a new language, for it gives a deeper insight into the country’s, culture, cuisine, literature and arts.
Divyanka Ranjan from Grade VI A sung the famous song ‘Aux Champs Elysees’. The students were taken on a virtual tour of Paris. The celebration came to an end with the National Anthem of France. It was played on the keyboard by Aayan Pandhripande of Grade VII. Aayush Aanand and Aanya Lakhotia of Grade VII anchored the celebration with panache.
The celebration was organised by Ms Aboli Kulkarni. the French Teacher.

Dipsites of DPS Lava got an opportunity to pose questions that they have always wanted to ask the Pro-VC, the Director and the Principal of the school. From childhood dreams to hobbies and life aspirations, they asked it all.
Rishika Mehta, Om Pawar, Sanskruti Khedkar and Shantanu Yadav asked thought-provoking questions..
Pro VC Sir, Director Sir and Principal Ma’am fielded every question sportingly.
Episode 1 of Tête-à-tête proved that without a good question a good answer has no place to go.

With the thought of bringing awareness to young minds, we celebrated International Tiger Day in a novel way. It was an initiative by DPS Lava Nagpur, Varanasi and Nashik and it enraptured one and all.
To grace the occasion we had a very eminent guest Mr Shardul Bajikar. A Bard for the wilderness, that's how Shardul sir prefers to be known. Sir, has been working on conservation and natural history communications for the last 16 years. . He has under his belt, 10 international coffee table publications. Sir has worked with almost all the best nature and wildlife photographers in India and some of the best talents from across the world.
The audience was in awe of all the interesting facts shared by our eminent speaker. It was such a knowledgeable insight. The students of the Dance Club of DPS Lava presented a mesmerising musical drama highlighting how human greed is inviting disaster. It also made us ponder on how little we are doing to save this magnificent animal.
The audience and the children enjoyed the engaging and informative session.
