DPS Lava Mentors Global Advocates
During the 2023-2024 session, mentees of The Global School Advocate Program received mentorship from Ms. Shahnaaz Ojha. Monthly meetings took place during this period, where updates on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiatives undertaken by advocate schools were discussed. The culminating session occurred on January 16, 2024.
Throughout the sessions, advocates passionately championed environmental-related initiatives within their respective schools, providing a substantiated justification for their efforts. After each month, advocates document their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and upon successful completion, they will be awarded a certificate for their participation in the Advocate Program.
DPS Lava Collaborates with Petersons School
DPS Lava, Nagpur had initiated a collaborative project with Petersons School in Mexico, focusing on the theme of 'Microfiber.' This innovative project will be conducted using the Design Thinking Methodology and will be carried on for two months, involving Grade IX students.
Facilitators Shahnaaz Ojha, Erick Zorillo and Asilie convened virtually on February 16, 2024. Their meeting aimed to establish a comprehensive roadmap for the collaborative initiative, ensuring a well-structured and productive engagement.
The school team is set to officially commence the project on February 7, 2024, following an initial 'meet and greet' session. This introductory gathering will not only serve as a platform for students to introduce themselves but will also provide an opportunity to share significant aspects of their respective countries.
These collaborative endeavours between DPS Lava and Petersons School are designed to cultivate a sense of team spirit among students. By jointly exploring solutions to challenges, the initiative aligns with the school's vision of transforming students into 21st-century citizens equipped with global skills in communication, collaboration and the establishment of meaningful connections.
This collaborative venture represents a significant step towards fostering international partnerships, enriching students' learning experiences and preparing them for a globalized future.
DPS Lava's Virtual Handshake
On 18 January 2024, DPS Lava Nagpur, a dedicated Climate Action school, participated in a virtual handshake with fellow Climate Action school Champions from Group 3. This collaborative initiative aimed to foster global connections and discussions on climate-related issues. Representatives from Climate Champions Schools in the USA, Kenya and Congo joined the virtual meeting with Ms. Shahnaaz Ojha from DPS Lava. The discussions focused on facilitating interactions between students from different regions, creating a platform for exchanging ideas and insights related to climate action. The eagerly awaited Meet and Greet session between students is scheduled for February 8, 2024. During this session, students from the participating countries will not only introduce themselves but also delve into meaningful discussions on climate-related topics. A significant aspect of this global collaboration is the chosen project topic on 'Keystone Species.' This topic will be the foundation for collaborative projects undertaken by students from each country, promoting a shared understanding and approach to environmental conservation. The virtual handshake between DPS Lava and fellow Climate Action schools demonstrated a commitment to global collaboration in addressing climate challenges.
DPS Lava Excels in CAS Global Assembly
Delhi Public School Lava a recognized Climate Action School, showcased its dedication to environmental awareness at the CAS Global Assembly on January 23, 2024. Students presented a compelling keystone on the 'Neem tree' and shared a well-received work plan.
Appreciation from Climate Action Schools highlighted the impactful presentation that captivated 80 participants worldwide. The positive response underlined the school's commitment to fostering responsibility and activism among students, making DPS Lava a standout contributor to a more informed and engaged global community.
Lindsay Zilly, Senior Program Strategist at Climate Action Schools, commended the school's efforts, emphasizing the crucial role DPS Lava played in making the CAS assembly a success. Delhi Public School Lava stands as a beacon of commitment to climate action, inspiring positive change and contributing to a sustainable future.
DPS Joins Hands with Impakto Colombia
Delhi Public School in Lava Nagpur, is actively pursuing global engagement and collaboration. In its latest initiative, the school has partnered with Impakto Community, based in Colombia, to foster a cross-cultural educational exchange. This collaboration involves monthly projects where groups of teenagers from both institutions work together. Presently, ninth-grade students are tackling a project focused on addressing a specific issue in India. In this joint effort, the Colombian students are responsible for conducting research and managing the project's social media presence. At the same time, their Indian counterparts are engaged in developing practical solutions. This project represents the third collaborative venture between Delhi Public School Lava and the San Jose School in Medellin, Colombia.
