Wonders at Raman Science Centre
Grade II students recently visited the Raman Science Centre for an enriching and captivating experience. The museum provided a stimulating environment with a wide range of scientific exhibits, including a mesmerizing planetarium journey through space.
The hands-on learning experience allowed students to touch, feel and experiment with various scientific phenomena, making theoretical knowledge tangible. This valuable extension of the classroom sparked a love for learning and showcased the practical applications of their studies.
The trip was a resounding success, leaving students with a newfound appreciation for the wonders of science. Back in the classrooms, echoes of excitement and curiosity lingered, highlighting the transformative power of experiential learning. During reflections, students shared their "wow" moments, emphasizing the lasting impact of this educational excursion.
Microfibers Project at NEERI Visit
The students of DPS Lava Nagpur visited the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) for an insightful session on January 24, 2024. During this visit, Ms. Reema Biswas, a Senior Principal Scientist, led an educational session for the Microfibers project team and their teacher, Ms. Shahnaaz Ojha. The team submitted three water samples for analysis, showcasing their commitment to understanding environmental challenges.
During the visit, an assistant scientist provided a hands-on demonstration of coagulation and flocculation processes in primary water treatment. The students explored cutting-edge laboratory equipment, gaining practical insights into environmental research complexities. Bio-toilets were a focal point, with project handlers explaining the repurposing of human waste as fertiliser in North-East India. The team observed bacterial colonies, gaining firsthand knowledge of the ongoing research in waste management. A key takeaway was the urgent need to address microplastic contamination in oceanic environments, emphasizing the role of natural decomposers. The visit also highlighted innovative sustainable practices by local industries.
The NEERI visit significantly enriched the Microfibers project team's understanding of environmental issues. The students are empowered with new knowledge and they are more determined than ever to contribute to a greener and cleaner planet through their Microfibers initiative.
Exploring Future Education Technologies
The Grade VII students of DPS Lava recently visited Nayapura Hindi Upper Primary NMC School, Nagpur, as part of an initiative by Nagpur Smart & Sustainable City Development Corporation LTD. The pilot program showcased futuristic technologies in education, aligning with the vision of transforming Nagpur into a smart and sustainable city.
Implemented from January 8 to January 12, 2024, the pilot introduced Cognitive Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence and Modern Pedagogical Techniques. Aimed at principals, teachers and students from Nagpur Municipal Corporation schools, the program emphasized electronic connectivity to co-create an inclusive educational ecosystem.
During the visit, students experienced hands-on engagement with these technologies, witnessing how AI can cater to diverse learning needs, especially for those with Dyslexia, ADHD, and Hearing impairment. The trip highlighted new assessment methods in Cognition and Literacy, along with insights into modern digital libraries co-created by Artificial Intelligence. The field trip provided a glimpse into the future of education, reinforcing the commitment to advancing learning through innovative technologies in Nagpur.
Field Trip Report: Vidarbha Literary Festival 2024
Delhi Public School Lava Nagpur, participated in the Vidarbha Literary Festival (VLF) 2024 at Chitnavis Centre Nagpur, on 27 January 2023. The festival, featuring 35+ English language authors, was a rich literary experience for the students. The students had the unique opportunity to engage and learn from a diverse group of authors, fostering insightful conversations and expanding their literary perspectives. The festival offered three tailored workshops, providing hands-on experiences and enhancing their understanding of the English language.
Noteworthy components of the festival included the launch of two books, a documentary screening and a cultural ensemble. These elements added depth to the literary experience, showcasing the creative and publishing processes and offering students a unique perspective on storytelling. The participating students from DPS Lava were Anay Selot (VIII B), Nishad Pawar (VIII-A), Shrot Bajaj (VII A), Kainaat Sharma (VII A), Sarah Husain (VII A), Shruja Khan (VII A), Tanishka Parate (VII B) and Labhanshi Jain (VII B).

KG I Field Trip to Agarwala Farm
KG I students recently explored Agarwala Farm, tying in with their study on "Parts of Plants and Germination." The visit showcased diverse plants, including magical ones like the Ghost Tree, Mad Tree, Variegated Tree and Kalpvriksh. Teachers seamlessly bridged theory and practice, sparking engaging discussions among the students.
This hands-on experience deepened their understanding, leaving a lasting impact. The Agarwala Farm field trip proved to be a memorable and enriching blend of fun and learning for the young minds of KG I.
CONNECTING WITH UPAY: A Year of Impactful Collaboration
Delhi public school Lava had collaborated with UPAY an NGO for a learning expedition for the academic year 2023-2024. UPAY works for underprivileged children by educating them and providing them with skill development training. The year saw many occasions where the students joined hands with the NGO for community service. The students donated books as part of the ‘Granth on Rath’ and also trained a few students connected to the NGO in vocational programs during the bagless week.
UPAY conducted a sporting event called ‘UMANG’ for their students on 28th January 2024. The students of DPS Lava cheered their fellow participants who took part in field events and races. Through this encouragement, the students realised the need to work for the community and utilise their time and resources for the betterment of society. UPAY presented the school with a memento as a token of appreciation for its continued support.
