VASANTA PANCHAMI

SARASWATI PUJA CELEBRATED WITH POMP AND SPLENDOUR AT THE SCHOOL CAMPUS

DPS Lava had organized Saraswati Puja, a festival dedicated to the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. Saraswati Puja also known as Basanta Panchami is not just a religious festival; it is a celebration of learning, culture and togetherness. Saraswati Puja holds great significance in Indian culture and tradition, as it emphasizes the importance of education and the pursuit of knowledge. Maa Saraswati is the goddess of learning, creativity, knowledge, wisdom, arts and music.

On Basant Panchami, yellow has particular meaning since it represents the radiance of spring, the ripening of crops and the blooming of flowers.  Thus, the school campus dazzled with shades of yellow.

The day began with the traditional ‘Puspanjali,’ where the holy verses were chanted and the teachers offered flowers, sweets and their heartfelt prayers to the goddess. This ritual set the tone for the day, which created an atmosphere of reverence and devotion.

The arrangement of Saraswati Puja included traditional rituals and prayers along with a plethora of other activities. Students celebrated this day as an opportunity to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, who is believed to bestow wisdom, learning and artistic talents upon her devotees.

One of the highlights of the Saraswati Puja celebration was 'Aarti' which was organised on the day after the puja. It was a day of mirth, nostalgia and bonding. The entire school community, including students, teachers, the Admin staff, the housekeeping staff and parents, came together to make this day special. It reinforced the sense of community and camaraderie that the school is known for.

Following the ‘Anjali,’ the school organised a cultural programme that showcased the diverse talents of the students. The stage came alive with music and dance, all dedicated to the goddess Saraswati. Students put in their best efforts to express their artistic and creative abilities and this platform allowed them to showcase their talents, boosting their confidence and providing a unique learning experience.

During Saraswati Puja, various recitations such as Saraswati  Stotram, Puspanjali and Saraswati Mantra were chanted to invoke her blessings to seek wisdom, guidance and knowledge.

Principal Ma'am addressed the gathering about the importance of Vasant Panchami, its  significance in Indian culture and tradition. She enlightened us all with the depiction of the Goddess's four hands, each carrying symbolic items that represents the multifaceted aspects of Saraswati's divine attributes and the virtues she embodies, including knowledge, creativity, spirituality and purity.

Principal Madam, the staff and the students worshipped the musical instruments and books.  They offered flowers and garlands to seek blessings from the Goddess for success and spiritual upliftment.
